5 Recent Fatal Trucking Accidents Include 1 Death In Florida

Truckers also complain about nagging government regulations that control when they are allowed to drive, and when they are not. For many drivers, the very reason they were attracted to the trucking industry, for freedom, is restricted by the imposition of endless rules. Truck drivers also tend to grumble over wasted down time, which can range anywhere between 30 minutes and 48 hours. Frustrated truck drivers find themselves waiting for the truck to be loaded and unloaded.

It would be impossible to mention all of trucking accident injuries and fatalities which have made the latest headlines. A South Florida trucking accident is no exception. Below is a list of five recent fatal trucking accidents which have occurred within the past few months in various states.

5 Recent Fatal Trucking Accidents

  • 1 passenger killed, 2 passengers injured. On February 22, 2013, a truck driver drifted his big rig off the side of the road, crushing a man who was pulled over to change his tire in Baltimore.

  • 2 female passengers killed. On May 13, 2013, a truck driver reported to be texting on a cell phone and slammed into another car causing two fatalities in Columbus Ohio.

  • 1 truck driver. On May 28, 2013, a truck driver slammed into another big causing it to turnover and pin the driver to his death in Fort Worth.

  • 7 passengers killed. On May 31, 2013, a tractor trailer detachment slammed into a mini-van killing four young children and three adults in upstate NY.

  • 1 Motorcyclist killed. On June 28, 2013, a motorcyclist was killed in a Florida trucking accident in Altamonte Springs.

All too often, trucking companies and drivers are in violation of federal and state regulations which govern safe driving practices. Sadly, most deaths and injuries could have been prevented if mandated precautions had been properly observed by members belonging to the trucking industry.
